Help with my Leaps, Kicks, and Splits?

I'm a dancer, and have been for sometime now! But, as I grow older our expectations as dancers become higher! My leaps are not as high as I would like them. My Kicks and Hitch Kicks are not something to brag about either. As a matter of fact... Their quite embarrassing to go across the floor during lessons. And lastly, MY SPLITS. I would not be able to do the Splits if my life depended on it at the moment! I want to be able to do Center Splits, Right Splits, and Left Splits. Help Please? Also, if you have any tips on doing that one thing [[ i don't know the correct termonoligy of it ]], but it is where you grab your leg and take it up while bending it to reach above your head... Along with the Scorpion , and tips on Heal Streches!

  1. basically all you need to do is stretch a lot. and with your leaps if you go into a deeper plie before "leaping" it helps


  2. well all this stuff falls under flexibility! tips:

    stretch everyday. this will help ur muscles remeber this feeling. do not bounce in your splits or overstretch. this wont help!

    also if u lift ur leg on a chair and do u splits, u wont be all the way down, no one is, but this helps under your knees and your hamstrings. also, if u have someone lift ur leg at 90degrees then  push down and try to have them let go, this also stretches you. good luck with ur goal!  

  3. im also a dancer and ik i cant do splits eather but im getting better..to get your splits and your y scale( thats when u pick your leg up to reach your head) u have to stretch alot everyday.. to make your leaps higher ive learned that when your going into the leap look and think up that will make yourself get higher into them..also the more you stretch the higher your kicks will get...hope i helped!! =]

  4. Stretch everyday while watching t.v. and you will get closer. For splits, kicks, etc. place two backless chairs facing each other. [[like you're gonna sit and put your legs up.]] Put one leg through the back and the other leg in the same place on the opposite chair.[[Like you're doing the splits on two chairs.]] PUSH DOWN! As hard as you can. Switch sides. Make sure your back is straight. This will help you with your left and right splits. For center splits, sit in second with your back straight and try to place your chest on the floor. Do this everyday and you will get your splits in a week or two. That's how I did it. To do Scorpion stand in a back bend and try to touch your hands to your feet. For Heel Stretches lay down on your back and bend one leg and grab the other leg. Pull down to your face. Try it with bottom leg straight and bent.
