Question:

Help with my braces?????????????

by  |  earlier

yesterday i got braces for the second time, but my top teeth were touching the bottom braces, so the stupid dentist put this thing on so i can't close my mouth all the way. it hurts REALLY bad, and i can't eat solid foods, because i can't chew stuff, because my top and bottom molars don't even touch eachother. Advice on how to get rid of the pain, or how to sterilize pliers to take them off myself?

  1. Go back to the orthodontist, tell him it really hurts and is causing you problems. He'll fix it for you.

I don't really understand what the thing is that he put in your mouth. Is it like a spring that's attatch to your top and bottom teeth on an angle?

  2. you have to just deal with the pain.

it only hurts for three or four days, and then it doesn't hurt anymore.

don't take them off yourself, that'll just make the orthodontist put it on again.

  3. What ever you do don't take them off yourself leave that to a professional. Try drinking smoothies or eat or drink something cold ..i know i have braces. There is this numbing stuff you can get at Walmart on the label it says brace pain relief.....it worked wonders for me, but i don't need it anymore because i get them off in 4 weeks.

    Good luck

  4. DONT even try to remove your bracesss can cause serious affectsss,

    i had this problem

trust me you wil get used to itt

you wont be able to eat solid food for 2-3 daysss. just try little bits at a time and url get used to the eating proccesssss. once the pains gone, if they stil annoy you- go back to the dentist and ask ghim to remove it and put it on higherrr,

  5. WAIT ! don't remove them your self go to the dentist he will fix it.

  6. OMG I HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM

when i first got my braces. i couldnt chew on anything

so i drank soup for two weeks,, and like oatmeal.

and when i woke up it hurt soo bad since my teeth were like

"balancing" on those spongy silver weird things

    the ortho puts on it.

i told my ortho about it and they said id just have to put up with it

till my jaw gets used to the bite.

after two weeks,, youll see that your molars will start to touch and itll be ok.

have some advil for the pain too,, really helped me :)

Just think,, after youre finally over with the braces ,, youll have pretty teeth! so dont give up!!

  7. Are you talking about a bite blocker? I had that for a year...but take a Tylenol or Advil.

I don't know about the pliers but hope I helped ;)

  8. just eat soft things like ice cream or yogurt.

there is this granola bar called Neutri Grain and i ate those when i first got mine on because you dont even need to chew it it is so soft.

  9. well, if ibuprofen doesn't work... see if you know anyone with a prescription for vicodin.

  10. you need to tell your parents how this feels, please don't take them off yourself.  make a call to the office to make sure it's okay that your mouth will not shut all the way...he may need to make an adjustment...there usually is a bit of pain anyway when you get them on but make sure there isn't an issue with closing your mouth.  the food part will change with a bit of time

  11. DO NOT take them off.

    its like that for everyone

they hurt for like a week.

  12. just take a painkiller and it should be fine

  13. that dose hurt

  14. I hate dentists who make treatments more difficult then what they should be, nothing really maybe rinse with warm salt water, dentists suck actually half of them have worse teeth than the patients. lol

  15. try tylenol

i got my braces toooo and i hurt so much i had to eat everything in tiny tiny pieces :(

but it goes away after like a week

  16. dont take them off. u will mess up ur teeth more. the pain will go away promise. i used to hv them

  17. Try taking Tylenol every 4 - 6 hours or however it says on the box! Its going to hurt for a week!

    Good Luck!

  18. I say,

Sue the godd damnnn ortho. For s******g your teeth!!

I had braces for 4 years.

    I no how you feel

  19. idk, call the orthodontist, or, i had an overbite, so i had bands, if you have any, use them, but you really should call the ortho, and meanwhile, put some wax onthem, it should make it less painful, good luck!
