  1. Righteous James is right on the money!  Dog parks are great because she can run around while you sit and relax!  :o)  Also, I have found that when your puppy get's really really hyper (running into walls and playing too rough), you may want to try ignoring her.   If you reward her with some kind of play (even if it's only tossing her a bone or a toy) she'll start to learn that behaving that way gets her what she wants.  If you ignore her until she's calmed down and THEN play with her, she will eventually start to associate her calm behavior with getting you to play with her.  I've had to do this with my Great Dane  puppy because he would get SO hyper when it was time to go for a walk that I couldn't even get the leash on him, and nothing in the world is harder to control than a hyper Great Dane!  LOL

    Good Luck to you!

  2. i would say a treadmill, swimming..find exercises that will drain her energy

i wouldnt suggest dog parks, most people there dont know how to keep an eye on their dogs. and also yours is 12 weeks old very easy to catch something from a dog park.

  3. I love the personality of a cane corso. They are so sweet.

  4. First off,

I know that many breeders of Cane Corsos will tell you not to walk them too much or let them go down/up stairs or jump from high places until about 18 months of age.The stairs and high jumps should definitly be avioded but long walks and runs are fine as long as you work up to it. The key is to avoide over stressing the joints and muscles.Don't all of a sudden take her for a 2hr walk if she usually only gets a 30 minute walk. Know your dog and how much she can handle. If she shows signs of being tired take her back home. But it is perfectly fine to work up to an hour walk.

Also, Corsos love routine. Try to take your pup on a walk around the same time every day. Once she gets to know the schedule she will be calmer for the rest of the day because she will know what to anticipate. Playing roughly with a large breed like a corso is a bad idea. Tug of war can pull the muscles in the face and actually make the puppy more likely to develop cherry eye. It also just works them up way too much and encourages them to jump on people and nip. It may be fun while the dog is just a puppy but your girl will likely soon be around 100 pounds. If you have friends over they will not appreciate a 100 pound dog jumping all over them even if the dog is only trying to 'play'. I only play with my corsos at the park or lake and they just get a ball or stick thrown for them. Having ha small dogs before I loved to play tug and wrestle them so it was hard not to play like this with my corsos but trust me it is sooo worth not doing. It make traing way easier and makes for a much calmer dog. Corsos really settle down after the 1st year or 2.But not playing around home really helps. Also, when you come home after being out don't get down and greet your pup right away. It will get her too excited, she may even pee a bit and it will just set her up to get all worked up every time you come back home. If you are calm and ignor her when she gets over excited she will be calm even if she just gets a 1/2 mile walk every day. If you give her attention then she will stay hyper. Best of luck.

  5. Sign up for a puppy training class! They are fun and it will socialize your dog and stimulate him. If your puppy likes other dogs, take him to a dog park to burn off some energy.

Also mentally stimulate your dog with entertaining toys like a buster cube or a kong with frozen beef stuffing or peanut butter.

I would also play some games like hiding treats/toys for your puppy to search for them. When the dog is running around like a maniac, instead toss him a toy to play with or a bone to chew on.
