Help with my friends baby shower-new not stupid games?

My friend is 19 and she's having her first baby in November. I'm throwing her shower. (on Sept 6). She want s to have games but none that are stupid or overly lame. Like she doesn't want to poppy dipper game, the rice and saftey pin game, the tp belly game, frozen baby game, or the tray of baby stuff game.

There are going to lots of young people there (17-23) and then a lot of older ladies (60-80's) So any cool new style not over rated games would be awesome.

Thanks for all the help.

  1. GAMES/ACTIVITIES

    -----------

    Baby Shower Bodysuit Decorating

Bodysuits are one thing the new parents will need lots of!!  A great activity is to have guests at the baby shower decorate bodysuits!!  Purchase enough bodysuits and fabric paint for each guest attending and set up the "creation station" in a location that will not be needed during the rest of the shower!!  (This will allow the bodysuits to dry without them having to be moved.)  When the shower is over...offer to wash the custom bodysuits for the new parents, making sure to follow the directions on the fabric paint bottles.  For large baby showers....purchase a wide range of sizes so these creations will be a part of baby's first full year!

Suggestion:  Cover the table being used with a plastic drop cloth covered with an old tablecloth that is no longer needed (the one with gravy stains on it from last Thanksgiving??).  5 Tubes of 1.25oz Colored Fabric Paint should be enough to decorate 10 Bodysuits (when used sparringly).

    Letters to The Baby

As the guests walk to the table where the gifts are being placed.....have a special station set up on the side of the gift table. At this station have cute baby themed stationary laid out with some nice pens. Beside the stationary have a card out asking each guest to take a few moments to write a note to the new baby. When the guests have finished writing their notes, have a tray or basket provided to place them in. Once all the guests have written their notes....the hostess can then choose one or two, at random, to be chosen for a prize (this could be your shower's door prize). When the shower is over these notes can be placed in a scrapbook or album to be enjoyed by the parents now and by the baby years down the road. Sweet and sentimental and sure to be treasured by the new family!!!

    ________

Find songs that are about babies or have the word "baby" in them.  Play the first five seconds or so of each song and have your guests guess the song.  Make sure include NEW songs and older songs (so your older guests will be able to play along too!!)

  2. Baby Shower Idol might be fun.Choose a lullaby and have contestants sing the song in one of four different ways. They can sing it in the tune of a country, gospel, R&B, or rap.At ours shower we had four tables of guest. We ask each table to choose a song leader and two backup singers. We then had one person from each table choose one of the four song types. They were not allowed to switch styles, and the song had to be original. We had the mom and dad judge. We gave the winner a crown and gift certificate, and the other lead singers special gift bags. All the back up sings chose gifts from the gift basket. It was a blast.

  3. These are all games that were played at the last couple showers I went to-

The tray game- I know you said you didn't want it, but use this fun twist! Make up the tray of baby things, have your friend carry it to each table, then leave the room with it. Next, tell everyone to write down what your friend was wearing! It's funny to read some of the wild answers, because people will have been concentrating on the tray, not the mom-to-be.

Draw a baby- Give each guest a pen/marker and a paper plate. They lay the plate on top of their head, and draw a picture of a baby. The mom-to-be picks her favorite artwork!

Envelope draw- I think this one should be played at every shower! Have each guest address an envelope to themselves, and drop it in a basket. Mom-to-be draws 1 or 2, and those people win prizes. Then mom-to-be keeps all of the addressed envelopes and uses them to send out her thank-you cards.

Price Is Right- Buy several baby items, and show them one by one. Guests write down what they think the price of the item is, then at the end, they total it up. The guest whose total is closest to the actual total (remember to deduct the sales tax from your receipt total, because your guests won't be figuring tax into their individual totals) is the winner.

Baby Name- If the mom-to-be has already chosen a name for her baby, the guests all have to refer to her by that name for the entire shower. If anyone is caught using her real name, they have to put something into a baby box- it could be anything from a congratulatory note to $5 to a rattle, whatever!

Word Scramble- Make a list of a bunch of baby-related words (don't forget to use harder ones like pediatriction, strech marks, thermometer, cesarean section, umbilical cord, etc), and scramble the letters. Give them a set amount of time, like 10 minutes or so, and whoever gets the most unscrambled correctly, wins. The last one I played had 50 words on it.

Celebrity Baby- Get a bunch of photos of celebs and babies from magazines. Cut the faces out of the babies, leaving the hair, ears, and any headgear, and replace them with the faces of the celeb. Guests have to guess the celeb. It's harder than it sounds! Donald Trump and Jennifer Aniston look nothing like themselves with a cute bonnet or dark curly hair!

Those are all the ones I can think of right now. Hope that helps!

  4. this isn't really a game but it was fun and memorable!!  My aunt bought a bunch of scrap booking paper sticker's an what not and had everybody at the shower make a page for the baby's first photo album.  I thought it was fun and every time my cousin will go to look at it she will remember all the people at the shower!!

  5. 1.   have them tear toilet paper in a long lenght  ; to guess the size of her tummy ; who ever fits the right measurement wins the price :)

  6. how about decorating onesies or teeshirts?

  7. Get a bunch of plain white onesies and fabric pens, have everyone break up into teams of like 2-4, and have a contest to see who can decorate the best one, having the mommy-to-be vote on the best. Whats great about this game is that the baby now has a bunch of personalized onesies for when he or she is born! It is also inclusive of the old who might like the games and the young who usually don't enjoy the games.
