Help with my friends quadratic equation?

he isnt allowed to use the quadratic formula and is supposed to factor

2x^2-5x-3

i figured out the answers are 3 and -1/2 but forgot how to factor

can somebody help me?

both of ur answers r wrong i think it should be (2x-1)(x+3) which is then -3 and 1/2
