I need crickets and mealworms to feed to my leopard gecko but there is a shortage at my local pet co so I cant feed it the worms. So I need to cover the crickets in mineral powder. But all of my crickets died in lonly 3 days. I put some food in so they can eat. Any ideas to keep them alive?

  1. Crickets are fairly easy to keep. You need a small enclosure, either a smaller tank or a larger jar (with holes punched through the top for aeration). Feed them either with commercial cricket feed (available at many pet stores or ordered online), or with bits of apples, grapes, bananas, and oats. I'd put the food in a shallow dish so it can be replaced from time to time to prevent mold. Crickets also need water, and the best idea is to take a small piece of sponge or a cotton swab, dip it in water, and place it on a shallow tray inside the cricket cage. This way, crickets can drink from the sponge without drowning, as they might in a traditional water bowl. Check the sponge from time to time to make sure it is still moist. Replace as necessary.

  2. I agree with Chris. Also, make sure you provide hiding places for them with egg cartons, paper towel rolls or toilet paper rolls.

  3. crickects should last more than 3 days...do a google search on how to keep you crickects alive

if you go to reptilefood.com you can order crickects and they arrive next day...
