i have a hamster called honey and she's really lovely. she loves being held and loves it when i stroke her. she runs around in her excersize ball and seems really happy and healthy. the one problem is that she gets scared when anyone else strokes her or holds her. she'll shake and sometimes pee on them. she's fine with me though. i know what to do with nearly all hamster questions accept this one!

  1. its because she knows your sent, u should introduce other people to her more slowly.

  2. i think you could have more people hold her and she will get use to it so she wont be scared

  3. She probably get scared,  just don't let anyone else hold her.

  4. Hi my uncle bought this new hamster and whenever they or anyone else went near the cage it tried to bite and was shaking and got really scared! them then my uncle gave it to me and it has been totally fine he loves it when i hold him and everything but when it comes to other people holding him he loses control he tries to bit them and he tries to scratch them and he also pees on them! so what i did was i got him treats and i told the other person to put a treat in there hand and when they did that the hamster went on their hands and he wasnt scared anymore and i did that with evevyone i know and now doesnt do anything he is perfectly fine! you can use her favourite food or you can buy treats from any petshops

  5. she knows you and your smell. arent you weary of people you don't know?

  6. Hi I have rats, mine are extremly tame, but sometimes they get frightened of strange humans, exact same as you descibe for your Hammie  SO what I do now is RULE 1 only me to take them out of cage....rule2...people can only stroke them while I hold them...rule 3 if the rats act funny about a particular person then person to keep away, if they like a human they'll go to them of their own accord,,it avoids stress and keeps them tame to me....shows he loves/likes you though doesn't it...give him a treat....

  7. it sounds likek you and your hamster have a really lovely bond which is great, i think ur best bet is too maybe not let anyone else hold her, put a towl on the other persons lap, get a piece of apple and give it to the other person, let them stroke her for a while and try to give her the apple, dont give in, us too as humans get scared when we are introduced to new people and its even scarier for a little hamster, if problems still continue then its best to not let other people touch her. But she should warm to other people if you try what i say because she warmed to you and you were a stranger to her once too.

    good luck

  8. This is normal..

she is used to u but not these new people

    (:

  9. Its because she doesn't recognise them. She doesn't shake with you because she is used to you holding her. Eventually if other people continue to stroke and hold her she will start trusting them.

  10. ya know, dont get anyone unfamiliar to handle her, put a carrot in their hands first, but dont let them pick them up. then, if he's feeling up to it, he might crawl in their hand. some hamsters are shy and only like their owners.

  11. Since she is comfortabel with you use that to your advantage, while other people are holding her make sure you are right there and maybe petting you, that way she knows she is safe because you the most trutsworhty person is there.Try to hold the hamster while other are stroking her, she might think it is you or she'll smell that your the one holding her. Maybe she is afraid of heights when she with someone she doesn't know, so have the person sit down. Maybe have the person hand feed her her favourite food, then she will hopefully trust and like them. Try talking to her in a comforting way or the voice you always talk to her, then she will reconized it is you reassuring her. Good Luck!!!
