Im in 8th grade and i am in home school through a church.I belive the homeschooling booklets are called pace.I have been wanting to go to a local high school or just go to an online high school, but they say that even though im in 8th grade,im still in 7th grade for math.Is there anyway i can just drop my home schooling and start and online school to catch up so i can go to highschool next year even though i havent legally graduated middle school. If not is there any way i can make them push me back up to 8th grade for my math?

  1. ask if you can do your algebra 1/2 (8th grade math) over the summer to catch up, I had a friend who was a year behind and did Algebra 2 over the summer and caught up.

  2. Ask your parents to give you special Maths Tutions, im sure they will be good help for your Maths skills

  3. Try this...it really does help...

  4. My children are doing the PACE system and like you my son had to do grade 7 maths, he simply worked quickly and did his gap books and is now into his grade 8 books.

He also has to catch up on his English, so he has more work to complete during the year. If you finish a PACE book they'll give you the next one and once you have done the gaps you'll be at your correct level.

  5. You say 'local high school', so you mean public high school?

I'm just making sure that you are not transferring to another private school that is local, so, if that is the case, disregard my answer.

Our public high school, in rural part of the USA, accepts students from all nationalities.   We have a percentage who come into the school without being able to speak any English and some who are very limited in communication.

These students come into the school at their grade level determined by their age and birthdate.

You may want to contact your local public school and make an appointment to tour the school.   The public schools have many programs for students who need help.   Our school has  an Algebra A/B program that takes a year to teach 9th graders Algebra by reviewing the things that should have been learned in middle school.

As a matter of fact, one of the reasons we took our son out of public school was because he was not learning.    He was "taught the test" from September to April and then took the test until he got an acceptable grade...sometimes.   Even without the acceptable grade, he was passed to next grade level to repeat the process.    Sorry, got past your question and jumped on my soap box.  (smile)

  6. well, in australia we have Rudolph Steiner schools, which means they work at your pace... try asking for a rudolph steiner school in your area and that will be fine, because they just give you what you can manage
