  1. I have had the same issues with my hybrid.  I think its because the shaft angle feels like I am swinging an iron, but when I look down I see what looks like a wood.

So, slow your swing down and concentrate on making a good golf shot.

Take them to the range and concentrate more on hitting with them, than your other clubs.

  2. hybrids are confusing nowadays. There are some that are designed to play like irons, and some that are like woods. depending on which you have, try different ball positions. If its more like an iron play it a ball forward of center. if its more like a wood, play it more like a FW wood. 2-3 call forward of center. just make nice smooth swings until u find the perfect ball position.

  3. I do not own any hybrids as I am so sick of people with no golf skill trying to buy a game with modern equpment.  Nonetheless I have heard that you need to hit them like you would an iron.  Due to the way they look people often try to sweep them like they would a fairway wood, and you need to hit down on the ball a little like you would with an iron.  But since you hit your 7 an 8 irons the same distance that advice might not do you any good, sorry.

  4. You must realize that their isn't really any difference between a 7 iron and hybrid at all. Your ball placement should be about one 2 inches ahead of center and you hands should be slightly ahead of the ball. Make sure you take a few inches step backwards just because the shaft is longer. otherwise  those clubs absolutely mimic 7 irons that's the whole point of a hybrid. You should put them on a tee and get results of 180 -200 yards with a hybrid of 20 deg loft. remember a club face is a club face for the most part so just swing easy and hit it like you 7 iron no different at all.

  5. I dont care if youve taken lessons. If you cant hit a hybrid you need more. No but seriously buy some real clubs. Hybrids are for old men and middle aged women. I  stick with my irons i even have a 2-iron instead of a 5 wood.

  6. focus on ball position, usually 2 or so inches ahead of center.  they are supposed to play like irons, but look slightly like fairway woods, so it does get kind of confusing.

you might be trying too hard to get them in the air, that's where the topping of the shot comes into play.  At least, that's what I do.

Try swinging your hybrids at no more than 80%, and keep an eye on ball position.  You'll be surprised how far they'll fly with just a smooth swing.  Hope this helps!

  7. I see this happen when people try to sweap the ball. Hit it like it is a 7 iron and strike down on the ball. Take a slow backswing, and don't swing hard on the down swing. Just make solid contact by striking down on the back of the ball and you will be amazed how long and straight it will go. With the heavier head of a hybrid there is no need to swing hard. Good luck.

  8. I experienced that same problem because I was trying to hit them like an iron.  Hybrids need to be hit like a fairway wood, do not come down on the ball steep.  Sweep it low using your standard stance setup.

  9. send me your swing to my email and i will tell you exacly why ok.but from both angles.email is neilflaxman@yahoo.co.uk
