Question:

Help with my insurance?

I am getting my tonsils out on the 9th of June and I'm wondering what steps I need to take with my insurance. I have Cigna and I'm pretty sure I pay 10% on the inpatient procedure. I've tried to call and they don't give me the option of a tonsilectomy. Will the doctor call and have it preauthorized or do I have to? Any idea how much it will cost??

  1. Wow, 10%, that's low.  Mine with Cigna is 20%.

You need to call the number on the back of your card, wait on hold for about an hour, and ask if the doctor has received the pre-authorization yet.  If so, GET THE NUMBER.  Write it down.

You're going to have to pay your deductible, also.   Cigna can tell you what the deductible is.

  2. Your dr office should call and get a pre cert for the surgery, and the hospital where the surg will be done will need a seperate precert.....if one is required...

look online and see if you have access at their website...look on you insurnce card for that website..
