Question:

Help with my lawn! Did the herbicide "burn" it?

two or three weeks ago a gardener put herbicide on my lawn. It was all green, but with some weeds.

Now, the lawn has green spots, but many parts of it are yellow, totally dry, whitered. The gardener said it is going to grow again. Is it true? If so, how long would it take to? Should I plant some new seeds?

Thanks!

  1. KILLED THE WEEDS-REPLANT THE LAWN WATER OFTEN

NEXT TIME USE WEED AND FEED,AND TELL POISONYARD FRIEND TO KEEP ON HIS OWN SIDE OF FENCE

  2. Sounds like herbicide damage to me.  Most herbicides have very important information on the label about the type of weather they can be applied in... I suspect that wasn't followed.

Find out what the herbicide was, and when you can replant.

  3. I've seen lawns damaged by herbicides grow again.  Wait a week or two to see if yours does the same if not you will have to replant.

In the future have a good company take care of your lawn with a good reputation such as Tru Green, Perrenial Green, etc.  They require their employees to take certification courses and have a knowledge of what they are doing.

  4. No doubt it is "burnt". Most weed killers should not be applied during the heat of summer. The damage usually takes a week or two to see. Its possible it may grow out of it if your willing to wait a few weeks to see.I would not plant seeds, give it plenty of water and wait, depending on your lawn type and what herbicide he applied the results can vary.It would be worth the wait to see rather than doing anything that might not be necessary.....in the future have your gardener let you pick out what is applied to your lawn...reading labels saves lawns
