Help with my new blackberry pearl?

My friend gave me her new blackberry pearl phone that she didnt like. I had a sidekick ID, how would i get a blackberry mail, and a plan, and such?

As far a plan, your service provider.

To set up a blackberry email, click on email settings on your home screen.

if you go to your menu screen you will see an envelope with a little gear and arrow that is the set up button for an email address with blackberry.
