I am currently trying to switch stables, as my old one, was not very good. I saw a really nice stable online, the rates were good, facilities looked good, etc. So the next day we went to visit it. It looked perfect! I then called the instructor to make a lesson when i got home. After trying for days to reach them, they finally said, there is no space for 3 weeks. So i said ok, and called back just before the 3rd week started trying to book a lesson for the 4th week. It has now been a week since i called and left a message, i called back today, and still no answer. What should i do? I really wanted to ride next week!!!!! Help?

  1. see if they have an email send one staying that you would like to ride there and then go visit them again before next week

  2. Well, the place might look nice, be nice, smell nice. etc. But clearly the people are either really busy like they say. Or just dont care.

Take your buisness elsewhere. Im sure there are many nice stables around your area. But if this place cant be bothered to return your call within a day or so, move on.

  3. I would find out who the owner of the stable and go visit them and explain to them that you would like to ride there. It is difficult to make a living with horses and I am surprised that someone wouldn't jump at the chance of new business expecially in this tough economic environment

  4. Honestly, I would visit again, talk to the instructor and schedule a lesson THAT DAY! Even if its 2-3 weeks away.

Barns are busy, and even though it is rude they have been ignoring you, showing up and having the instructor see what she's going to expect.

  5. forget them.  try elsewhere. if that is their atitude now maybe that will also apply when you ride.  find a local riding club because sometimes they know of stables which hire to their non-owning horse riders.

also you will meet like minded people and make new friends.

    good luck

  6. Well, that is not very good customer service is it.  Some places may have good horse-sense but lacking in business-sense!!

If you really liked it there go back and see them in person.  Maybe the office person was out or something..or maybe not doing their job properly??  I know that barns can get busy especially if a show barn during this time of year.  I'm not making excuses for them but go back and talk to the instructor or the owner or barn manager...I'm sure they don't want to miss any business opportunities..unless they are soooo busy they don't care.   Try to give them the benefit of the doubt this one time.  And maybe once your on the regular schedule it will go smoother.

In the meantime, have a plan B....If you really want to ride, you've got to find a place...

Maybe take another look at where you are....what didn't you like there?  Sometimes, the grass might look greener but it is not.

Hope your in the saddle next week!!  Good Luck!

  7. Do they have an e-mail address or cell phone number on their website?

I personally think it's pretty rude to ignore a new customer for so long- you're trying to pay them for services, after all! But I hope they get back to you soon.

If not, I'd suggest maybe trying yet another new barn. This one doesn't sound extremely reliable, ya know?
