Help with my paceing?

I run the imile 2mile and 800 in track and in the 2mile i have a really hard time keeping a pace because i allways start to slow down (i dont notice my team members tell me afterwards) and when someone tires to pass me or i guess i feel like it i will speed up. so dose anyone have a tips to keep a pace all the way through a race

  1. yes...keep a beat in your head and try to keep it throught the entire race. or what you can do is try to keep up with the fastest guy...thats what i did.


  2. If you practice your race pace by doing intervals at that pace then you should be able to recognize the pace you are running in a race.

    That is one of the reasons to do race pace intervals the other is to condition your body to running at that speed.

    If you are allowed to wear a watch during the race then you can check your pace at each 100 or 200, if you can't wear a watch then have someone shout your splits so you will know if you are on pace or not.
