Help with my psp charger?

my psp is dead... i have a 1000. the charger i have charges through my computer with a usb cord. when the charger is in the orange light is on, i let it sit for awhile to start playing again and i checked to see how much it charged and it said that it was at 0% . so then i left it on and tried charging it, it didnt work either. when i take the charger out it shuts off. if i have the charger in it will stay on but if i try and play a game or listen to music or watch a movie it'll shut off. what should i do?

You either need a new charger or a new battery.
