please help me.. i have a husky who is 11 months old. he has been a REALLY good dog for the longest time. well my hubby and i went on a holiday for our 1 year anniversary from august 15-18th and let my sister and her husband take care of my puppy. they stayed at our house to make sure that titan (the puppy) was comfortable.. well when we were gone he pooped on the floor everyday, he ate our wicker chair, he ate the railing... what do i do??

he pooped on the floor again yesterday (even though we were home)

is he just showing us that he is mad that we left him?? i don't know what to do.. i don't want my house to smell like a barn-lol and i don't want my house eaten...

  1. I just had to put my mixed breed dog to sleep yesterday; he was 17 years and 2 months old.  He was absolutely the sweetest, most well-mannered, happiest dog I have ever known.  He is already missed greatly.  But he wasn't always so polite, and it even entered my mind at one point when he was destroying pillows, to send him back to the adoption center.  But I dug in my heels and trained him to earn a treat by asking and then going outside. No matter the time or inconvenience, you keep your end of the bargain and let him out, followed by an immediate treat and praise when you both come inside.  He also had a biting problem as a pup, and I solved that in about five minutes by blowing fast and hard into his face after he tried to bite. After that, he would rather die than bite anyone.  My dog would also get very upset when he was kept at a kennel during our family vacations.  Upon arriving home, he would run around in circles, barking loudly and glaring at us, just to let us know he didn't appreciate the trip to the kennel.  We showed him sympathy about how difficult it was for him, and allowed him to vent his anger, understanding it was all about his feelings of abandonment.  Upon our return from travels as he aged, we would shower him with love, and give him the same hero's welcome he showed us every single day.  It didn't take too long, and he became the perfect, devoted, happy, and sweet-as-could be canine companion.  You (or his dogsitter) probably should contain him when gone from the home; we put him in a tiled bathroom (with newspaper for accidents), with the door open, however with a childproof gate keeping him in.  That way, he is not closed in a small room without being able to see out.  Dogs are social creatures, and he will want to see out of his confined space.  I do not agree with crate use to contain dogs, except when absolutely necessary (such as travel). Be patient and loving, and allow your dog to communicate as best he can with you in his own doggie way, and you will benefit from many years of love, patience, and devotion from him in return.  Help him to feel secure and loved, and he will pay you back a hundred-fold.

  2. He could possibly be mad that you did leave. My dog is a couple years old and sometimes if i don't pay much attention to her she starts tearing things up! As far as the c**p oin the floor.. that could just be from him needing to go and him not telling you when he needs to go.
