  1. First, practice your scrach spin from a stand still, from a line.  Use the line to create a "half heart" shape image for you to follow.  Your entrance for the spin should start at the line, bend away from the line, snap back towards the line (top of the heart) with your spin ending up next to the line, not crossing over the line.  Start your spin entrance making sure you're on an outside edge, keeping your arms out, slightly in front of you.  "Attack" your entrance -- give yourself a big push, keeping your upper body over your knee, maintaining a good knee bend.  I tell my skaters to imagine that they're balancing a heavy book on their head as the enter their spin.  Keep your shoulders and hips square, keeping your right leg behind you like you would in a swing roll.  I also use the image, "start off making yourself real little (deep knee bend), and when you snap into your spin, make yourself real tall."  Hook your entrance around by snapping your free leg from behind, directly in front of you, maintaining square hips and shoulders and keeping your arms also out, just a little in front of you (so you can see them out of the corners of your eyes).  When you snap, getting your free leg in front and raising up on your bend knee has to be done at the same time to give you the momentum and speed you need to stay in the spin.  Be careful not to drop either shoulder or raise your free leg hip up as you enter the spin, which will slow the spin down, send you up too high on your toe and send you traveling.

Once you get comfortable with the entrace, practice getting into your spin (add the crossovers), stand up in the spin and hold the open position.....free leg in front, foot turned out, arms out.  Get the feeling of this position so you can quickly hit it in the future, helping you center your spins.  For practice, exaggerate the length that you hold this position.  Then add the pull in.  Pull your free foot in towards your knee and arms towards your chest at the same time, same rate.  Then "push down" with your free foot ending up right next to your spinning foot (flexed up, of course!) and arms tightly pulled in.

    Good luck!  :)

  2. Shoulders should be level

Hips should be level and square

The free leg should be controlled and extended

After the spin is hooked, the arms and free leg should reach their final position

Wraps one leg around the other, gaining terrific speed

  3. well u can start with backwords crossovers then u do a three turn but keep ur foot up(ur right)and bring ur foot in good luck!!!:)
