Help with my yahoo finance please.?

I'm a noob at yahoo finance, I know how to add companies to my portfolio, but I am not sure how to make it record what I bought them at. Is there a free way to make yahoo finance record the # of stocks I bought and the price I bought them at.

And yes, I did read through the yahoo finance help section, but it was confusing.

BTW, I didn't actually buy them, I'm just trying to keep track of the current price compared to the price I "bought" them at for a school project.

  1. Just click on  the portfolio tab from finance.yahoo.com

    Then create a new portfolio.

As you create the portfolio, you can enter all the stocks that you "bought" and the price at which you bought them as well as the number of shares, etc.

Then, once you are done, click "finished".  You'll click that twice as it shows up on two pages.

Then, later to view your stocks, you can select your portfolio from finance.yahoo.com.  Just move your mouse over the portfolio tab until your newly created portfolio appears below it.  Then click on your portfolio!  That's it!

If you have further questions, please let me know.

    Hope that helps!

P.S. Good luck w/ your project!
