My house is about 30 years old and is two stories run by city water. I have had noisy pipes from many faucets and toilets and have been slowly fixing the problem. I read online as well as asked quesitons abotu what to do and I tried everything. I drained the system, changed all the fill valves and ballcocks in the toilets and I turned on all the faucets to see if there was air in the pipes. The noise from the toilets and most of the faucets have gone away. I still have noise form my kitchen sink which is the farthest distance from the main water supply on the groud level as well as master bathroom sink which is farthest away on the second level. Any help or suggestions is appreicated. Also the noise occurs while the water is running usually right when you turn on the water.

  1. You will have to install air chambers throughout the house you are going to need a plumber or at least a good handyman.

  2. You have a problem known as air hammer.  You can attach a vertical piece of pipe to a "T" fitting, which would attach to the supply pipes.  This should take care of the problem.  Many municipalities now require them.  Hope this helps.
