i got my nose pierced two weeks ago, and am going back to school in 3 weeks, but were not alowed face piercing, so would it be ok to replace my stud with a one of those clear ones and just let it heal with that one in for the rest of the time, but i keep on knocking my nose and hurting it, so it hasnt healed as well as it could have to this point, and still hurts a tiny bit, and another question, although i turn it 3 times a day and clean it, it feels a bit tighter if you get what i mean, is this normal?

  1. Hey,

I had a similar problem when I had my nose pierced for the first time.

It's best if you get one of the clear studs to wear to school, because if you don't wear a stud for a week or sometimes less, the hole will close up very quickly. I lost my studs and had to have my nose re-pierced because it closed.

With the 'tightness' that would be your skin growing around the hole and healing- so if your feeling a little bit of pain that's actually a good sign since it shows it's healing. Best thing you can do to speed that up is dab it with some lukewarm salt water- it really helps it heal quickly!

  2. You are not supposed to turn it, just clean it.   At this point it shouldn't feel tighter. You are probably irritating it each time you turn it.  I hope you went and got pierced by a professional using a hollow needle and not at the mall or by anyone using an ear piercing gun. If you did, you can be sure that is causing the problem.

I think using a clear plastic spacer is fine.  Just make sure whatever you do your hands are clean and that you disinfect the stud by soaking it in alcohol for a few seconds.  Salt water soaks are good for healing.  Use neosporin or another antibiotic ointment to lubricate the stud as you pull it out or insert the new one.

  3. it sounds like the skin around your piercing is swollen and that is why it is harder to turn. Just wash it with whatever the piercer told you to and however many times a day and keep your hands away from it until you wash it again. My nose piercing took a while to heal. Just wash it then don't touch it and be careful not to snag it or bump it.
