  1. Carry weights, practice every day gradually you will learn how to hit the ball above the net.GOOD LUCK!!!!!

  2. Contact the ball with the lower part of your palm, right "above" your wrist. Have more practice with a well-inflated ball (not over inflated "hard-ball"), and you should be able to get there pretty soon.

  3. when you overhand serve, try to keep your fingers closed you can't break them when you overhand serve because when you do, you should be hitting the ball with the bottom part of your hand, where theres more muscle near your wrist..never hit the ball right in the middle of your hand and always make sure if you're serving with your right hand to put your left foot forward. you could also try lifting weights =]

  4. I just started serving over-hand, and I know it's hard. Keep working at it!

Make sure you hit the ball with the heal of your hand. Your fingers shouldn't even be envolved in the serve. You should also be hitting it at the highest point you can reach, so that it makes it over the net.

Good luck!! And don't give up. It takes practice (I should know)

  5. its okay this has happend to me many times!   i think you should start wieght lifting so your arm can get stronger, but also make sure to use all your strength, and dont be shy to ask your coach for help or  you could even ask other players for help!!!!!!!!

    good luck!!!! : )

  6. just watch your swing...if you want more power, weight lifts as the others say...but still your technique is the most important. Put the ball in front of you a little high up and take your hitting arm to the back of your head and hit the ball with an open palm..it should get over

  7. I had so much trouble with my overhand serve freshman year i practiced and practiced my form, but it didn't help. I was even stronger than most of the girls on my team. Finaly my coach told me to hit the ball at my wrist..it completly helped. Of course, its not going to be perfect right away just practice it and it will come to you for sure. And do not hit with a closed fist, some refs might even call that if they catch you, and your coach is right. Good Luck! And don't give up!

  8. its okay,, i took me almost a year to perfect my overhand serve. its not perfect, but i serve overhand in games and am happy with it. i've never hit the ball with open fingers, but coaches all have different beliefs, so ya. make sure your arm is high enough. that can be a real problem. also, make sure you aren't crossing your body when you serve the ball. follow through after you hit the ball, it makes a world of a difference. push- ups. do lots of them! they really help with serving because it makes your arms stronger. my coach told our volleyball team to do atleast 50 push ups every night! it seemed like alot at first, but gradually we got alot better and stronger. and just keep practicing, practicing, practicing!

    good luck!

  9. I play volleyball and i serve mostly under hand but am really good at overhand!!!! When i hit overhand i hit the ball with my palm so it goess faster and has more force! while ho\itting it with your palm make sure you make a fist!! it helps! and hopefully i am a good help!
