Help with page numbering in Microsoft Word?

I am trying to number the pages of an essay within the header. I need the title page to simply be labeled "i" and the following pages to include a subtitle and a page number. I have the subtitle and the page numbers inserted, but it included the title page in the numbering and I can't get the text off of the title page. How can I make the first page different from the rest and start the numbering after it?

You are probably going to have to delete your numbering but open "View Header and Footer" One of the icons is for "Page Set Up" Choose "different first page" then the header on page one will say "first page header" insert what you want. Then move to the second page and insert your numbering as usual and that should continue for the rest of the paper. ope this helps.
