Help with painting?

I'm painting my room in an overlapped circular design http://ratemyspace.hgtv.com/SNC/ViewItem.aspx?pguid=6db6be3f-1720-4ba3-a081-999042c09b6b&itemguid=e505e1ac-bb7f-40ea-a43e-6ee6c6e21db6

I did it with the string method on the wall, people are just telling be to get a stencil or blow up this design, I'm not willing to spend money doing this when I am no where near a sign shop and have the leftover paint, and I also have it as I like and it varies from this. What I do want to know is the best way to paint smoothly without imperfections, I used the "m method" for everything else.

  1. you could tape it out. i noticed that youre using a black as the base color but you should paint this as your last! using paper shapes (just use any paper that wont be soggy or bleed with excess paint on it) and tape creat te first layer designs (the area in white). then paint over it in light blue, and tape over that in the circular shapes. then paint over that in the darker blue, tape shapes onto that. then paint everything black. you could even do all of this with a roller, to help remove strain from you arms and wrists. once all is dry peel off all the paper and paint. it should show everything under it through the top coats.

so this sounds kinda complicated, but its like how they paint cars. if you ever seen pimp my ride then you know what i mean. they often use tape to mark off areas they dont want the top coat of paint to hit, if the area is large its faster and more economical to use paper in the center of the design and tape on the edges.
