Help with paper for application?

when sending out a cv and covering letter to a job advert, would you use specialist paper you have or simple A4 paper

  1. Good quality, white A4 paper, laser printed.

    Unless the job is for something artistic like a graphics designer, when you can be a bit more arty.


  2. I always use white A4 but a nice, good quality type. For important things like applications and letters I avoid the cheap, value stuff that I'd normally use for everyday printing and try to use something that's a little thicker, such as 170gsm (standard A4 is 80gsm). But other than that, just nice, crisp white paper. NEVER cream-coloured or embossed or anything else that distracts the eye from the content - to employers it looks like you've got something to hide.
