I need some help with the math on this.

Say I quote a client $550 for a job. After doing a site visit, I get a better idea of the costs, and give a new estimate that is $800.

How do I calculate the % of how much the price increased?

  1. the original price is = 550

    new value = 800

    difference = 800 - 550  = 250

    so the increased % = (250/550) *100 = 45.4545 % increased

    = [amount increased / old value ]*100

    = 45.45 % answer

    good luck

  2. Increase / original * 100%

    250/800 * 100%

  3. From the formula in ratio and proportion...

    Get their difference...

    800 - 550 = 250...

    500 : 100 = 250 : x

    550 / 100 = 250 / x

    55 / 10 = 250 / x

    55x = 2500

    x = 45. 45

    .: the percentage is 45. 45%

  4. (new - original)/original x 100%

    ($800 - $550)/$550 x 100%

    = $250/$550 x 100%

    = $25000/$550 %

    = $500/$11 %

    = 45 5/11 % (≈ 45.45%)
