Question:

Help with photography inspiration?

I have been doing a lot of amateur photography for fun lately, and I'm starting to get serious. Anyways, I have been taking pictures regularly lately to expand my portfolio. And tomorrow I'll be going out and taking pictures near these really cool canals by my apartment and my friend will be modeling for me. But I am extremely uninspired and really have no ideas whatsoever. Does anyone know of any good photography websites or anything along those lines where I could look at some other pictures and maybe channel something to give me ideas? Because I'm running dry right now and I've been searching for pictures on yahoo for like an hour now, but a lot of the websites aren't legit and freeze up my computer. Anywho, help would be greatly appreciated.

This is my aesthetic, these are pictures that I've just recently taken (sorry for the kinda bad quality, my scanner is terrible):

  1. I suggest you try to capture the beauty in nature. I don't like taking picture of people to much...

  2. I think your aesthetic is uninspiring, and drab.  Sorry, just my opinion.

Before you get started with models you should be working candidly.  Just go for a walk, take your camera and see what you can find.  I agree with the other poster, see what you can find in nature.  The models you are using might be part of the problem, as well as the black and white isn't suited to all of your subjects, so why use it exclusively?

  3. Try searching flickr.com, it's a great place for inspiration. You can search by tags, groups, the explore option or even the camera that was used to take the photo.

Also, I have a list of words that I use for inspiration. It has helped me with variety in my photos as I am learning. Here's the list for you.
