I am moving into a new apartment and need some assistance in picking colors for my living room / dining room (extension from living room that will be made into a bar) and hallway which connects to the living room.

The living room consists of mostly black furniture; black leather sofa, love seat, and chair, a black frame big screen tv, Black coffee table with silver legs, black side tables with silver legs, 2 lamps with some silver in the frame. A silver color entertainment center. The carpet color is dark beige. The extension (which I want to make into a little bar) has a oak wooden floor and I have a bar set that is black in color. The hallway also has a dark beige color carpet.

I want the living room to have a modern look. I was also thinking about making 3 walls one color, and the wall that you see when you walk into the apartment to be of a diffarant color, perhaps the same color as the hallway? I would also like to blend in the bar extension to the color of the living ro

  1. With all the black furniture just about any color would work. Personally I prefer light airy rooms with some warmth in the color I like Navajo white or peach as long as the peach isn't too Orange. Best of Luck.

  2. my living room is a homey green. may want to try that? it makes it all homey and cozy and makes you feel like you are at home

the color would also be good becuz it would stand out from the beige and black.

  3. With all that black and silver (and dark beige carpet) I would go for either this... http://www.hgtv.ca/homeheist/Galleries/g... (wait for the AFTER picture) or you could go for something that matches the carpet because in theory silver and black are neutral but if you look at that pic in the link the carpet is beige. Meantime, you could try out these sites to try a colour out 1st (interactive paint a room online program) http://www.bhg.com/decorating/color/colo...

    Good Luck

  4. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think it would look terrific if you paint your accent wall a dark red like "fireweed" (# 6328), and then paint the rest of the room a tan-yellow like "stonebriar" (# 7693). I think it would look very stylish with the black & silver furniture.

  5. I like an orange color...not bright but you know when the light hits it, the rooms lights up and I like Reds too :)

  6. maybe like a beige by the extension and a dark woodsy green or a tunscan rustic colored red to go with the oak floors and beige it will make the room feel modern and homey

  7. Accent wall in deep red.  And the back wall of the little side bar room in the deep red also.  The other walls do a lighter shade of your carpet color.  White trim and your set.

  8. I would go into the gray shades and burgundy , I will try to find something for you to give you an idea of what I'm thinking of.

Benjamin Moore's colours that I have found are:

    Crownsville Gray

    Sundried tomato

    Beach glass

    Jester

all of these colours works well together
