Help with plucking strings!?!?!?

Well I just got my bass (orchestra) and when i pluck the strings with my fingers it really hurts, can some one tell me what 2 do??!!!

Keep at it.  After a few weeks, you will form callus on your fingers, and you won't feel it anymore.  Don't worry, the callus is barely visible.

this is correct, i play guitar (learning) and i had the same problem, just keep going, it will get easier as you go on
