  1. I would've answered this question earlier except I skipped over it because I assumed it was a Yahoo Pool question...I just now noticed it was you asking, and opened it up :) My suggestion for you is to try your best not to think about how many balls you've run as you're shooting...If you break and run through the six, don't think about the fact that all you have to do is make the seven and position on the nine is automatic, and then you'll have a break and run. I have the same problem sometimes, and I know that's usually what's getting to me. It's all mental for me. But if it's something else for you, something physical, stroke issues, for example, you might not even be aware of it. I have a friend on my team who has a bobbing problem...she brings the cue back and her head and back go up; cue goes forward, her head and back lower. She had no idea, and still can't feel it. Get someone qualified (BCA instructor is your best bet) to look at your stroke, just to be sure...No matter what level you're on, there's probably something you could be doing better...It drives me crazy when I see the pros wiggling their ring fingers on their bridge hands...it's a stroke flaw, no matter how cool they think it looks.

p.s. My apologies if these suggestions are obvious to you...I know that can be annoying :)

p.p.s. Hey, ease up there, Dragon's Fire...Bill here is a regular and respects the game :)

  2. Not to parrot Lea's answer or to be a shameless self-promoter, but I agree with the suggestion of getting an instructor.  Consistency comes from repetition.  Inconsistency is probably the most common complaint I hear from students regarding their pool game.  The definition of a good pool stroke is to move the cue stick forward in a straight line with an accelerating motion.  A good stroke limits unnecessary movement and "body English".  Of course, we're not a bunch of pool robots.  We all have little quirks in our game that make us unique.  We do need to be aware of them and either learn to incorporate them into our game or try and eliminate them if they are indeed harmful.  Pool is a simple, yet very challenging game.  Not only will an instructor help you with the mechanics of the stroke, they will also help you to develop your own personal pre-shot routine.  Every good player has a routine whether they realize it or not.  When you have the mechanics down and your routine in order it becomes second nature and you really don't have to consciously think about it any longer.  Whenever I feel myself slipping, I focus the mechanics and the routine and usually it'll pull me back in the game.  It's a great thing to fall back on.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  3. The lady summed it up real well good ans Kid

And yeah Dragon Fire WTF You some kind of hero all of a sudden We ask for real questions then you give BS for an answer??

  4. You are not consistent, but to go from a 9 ball table run, to nothing is bulls***, You keep practicing, a lot of practice, every day, and you may get up to doing a 2 ball run....

Do you thing we are dummies here, with that story, go play Yahoo pool man.

EDIT-Sorry Bill, I thought it was some kid being a wiseguy,

That's what it sounded to me like, and I don't remember him on here. Again my apologies. and to others.

    EDIT

To Lea, and Johnny: If you read the question, without knowing Bill, what does it sound to you like?. Lea u even said, that you didn't answer the question the first time, because you thought

it was a player from Yahoo. No Johnny, I am no hero, I gave him an answer thinking like I said, that it was some wiseguy!.
