  1. Good job red vee - thumbs up!

  2. 1. Probability of getting Heads is 1/2. The probability of getting three heads in a row is therefore 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/8.

    2. Two dice give 36 combinations. For the sum to be 5, the possibilities are 1,4 or 4,1 or 2,3 or 3,2. There are therefore 4 chances out of the 36 that the sum of the faces equals 5. So the probability is 4/36 or 1/9.

    3. Assuming you're dealing from 1 pack of cards, the probability of being dealt that hand can be calculated like this: the first card can be any one of the five, drawn from the 52; the second can be any of the remaning four cards drawn from the 51 etc. So the probability is given by the equation: 5/52 x 4/51 x 3/50 x 2/49 x 1/48 = 120/311875200 which equates to 0.0000003847. In fact, this is the probability of getting ANY specific hand in poker and is calculated as 1/2,598,960 (the total number of 5 card hands)
