Question

A die is rolled twice. T is the event of 'rolling a number not more than 3' and F is the event of 'rolling a number not less than 4'

a) use a tree diagram to illustrate this two-stage experiment.

(too hard on comp prob so don't worry)

b)calculate the probability of rolling

1.two numbers each not more than 3

2.a number not less than 4, followed by a number not more than 3

3.a number no more than 3 on one roll and not less than 4 on the other roll

b) The probability of T=1/2 and the probability of F is also 1/2

1.T x T=(1/2)(1/2)=1/4

2. F x T=(1/2)(1/2)=1/4

3.T x F =(1/2)(1/2)=1/4

P(T1∩T2) = 0.5*0.5 = 0.25.

P(F1∩T2) = 0.5*0.5 = 0.25.
