  1. The only way I have ever been able to really control them was by hiring an exterminator. Once a year spraying seems to take care of them. Of course apartments can be different because you have to rely on neighbors to hold up their end of the deal and keep them sprayed and maintain cleanliness. Have you asked your landlord about getting the place treated? You can present to the landlord that it is a potential health risk to you and your family. Hope this helps.

  2. Mine came out of no where, I think they came when my sister moved in for a bit and brought all there stuff in our house. As for bait.. You need an exterminator. They are hard to get rid of. I did however used a dome like bait that had liquid in it that I found at winndixie, I placed them everywhere that there was a water source and bought raid to spray around the stove, fridge, under the counters. (out of reach from animals if you have any). Than any found roaming was killed by my shoe.

I have not seen one in a month.

  3. they don't eat much the problem is probably your neighbors are  not as clean as you roaches can live with very little to eat a single unwashed plate in the sink is enough and they will travel through holes and cracks in walls you can try sealing any cracks with a silicone caulking  this will help but they will probably still find a way in but why make it easier for them next get boric acid its kind of like a salt and it will dry them up you can find it in pest control center or in garden section of stores the only way to get rid of them is to have a pest control company spray the whole building and even then its very difficult to kill them all one roach in a seven day period will give birth to forty more roaches and in a very short time a few weeks or so those will give birth to forty more you have to call your manager and let them know that you will move if the problem isn't fixed moving might be the only way be sure to check every thing you move making sure no roaches hitch a ride to your new place and hope your not moving into another roach infested apartment

  4. Bengal is the best I have ever seen.  It is kind of expensive but since the other stuff doesn't work near as well it is definitely worth it.  And it really does last 6 months.

  5. There's a number of good products.

One is Boric Acid powder which is the main ingredient in roach powders sold at hardware stores like Home Depot and others. You put it down in crevices and it kills them. I use that often in the garage. It also kills silverfish (which is a bug not a fish) ants, etc. This is one of the best ways to get rid of roaches.

Besides sprays in cans like Raid, there's concentrated ant and roach killer which is normally in a one or two ounce small bottle. You mix maybe one ounce of that in a gallon of water in a pump sprayer and spray around baseboards, etc.
