I work part-time as a receptionist. There are three of us and there is one full time girl and then another part-time girl like me. The other girl recently went away for a month and I covered all of her shifts (double the amount I usually work) This past week I switched my Friday night for Monday night with her becaue I need off. Now she calls me and asks me to work for her tomorrow night and won't take any other of my days. She says I owe her. Should I just go into work or say no and have her look bad. She's used me so many times.

She also didn't show up the past 3 days of work and didn't even call them.

  1. i wouldent help her out only help pep that help you

  2. don't help her, why the h**l should you?! you're not her skivy!!!! think about if she would do the same for you, if ur in need of the money then by all means go  for it but make sure she nows your not doing it for her!!!! dont let people walk all over you, if  u let her get away this time, she will definately keep doing it, not like she's going to be working with you for long by the looks of it anyways!

  3. money is money I would go and keep on going sooner or later the boss is going to recongnize that she hasn't been coming in and guess what? you will take her place and you will be able to make more money. make the money dont let the money make you.

  4. say NO.

how do you owe her? if she doesnt take any of your days than thats just unfair.

i hate people who think they can walk all over people

  5. Hi,

    This is a tough situation.

When this girl was gone for a month, who asked you to cover for her? Did your employer ask you to cover? Or did she have to find someone, that being you?

If your employer asked you to cover, then that is whom you did the "favor" for and not her.

As far as switching hours goes, that is usually "I do it for you this time and you owe me back at a later time".

If you do find that you are covering for her more than is acceptable on your part, then you should talk to your boss or human resources person about this situation.

Just as an FYI, at my job if a person misses work without calling in, for 2 days in a row, they are considered to be forfeiting their job.

    Good Luck to you!
