I have an uncle, whom I keep in contact with, and he had a daughter, who would be 17 or 18 now, but none of us have seen her since she was about 4. We know her mothers maiden name, and the girls name including middle name, and I know where she was born. But i've had no luck with searching, due to I don't really know where to search, as it is likely that her mother has got re-married, so both of their names have been changed, so I would need to search some marriage record sites.

Also, not all websites are free, they say they are free but as soon as a record comes up you have to pay.

Does anyone know where I could search, to find my cousin?

By the way I am in the UK

thankyou

  1. If your cousin is in the U. S. she is paying into the social security system where she works.  Write the U. S. Social Security and ask for information about her death--where, when, etc.  They will send an answer stating that she is not dead and lives at____________.  You might locate the mother also with this method, then the daughter.  You will have to use the correct name.  In the UK, I have no idea how to locate her.

  2. Unfortunately there are no free sites for birth, marriage or death records after about 1910-15. You can find the nearest location to your home, where you can access the bmd registers free, using these links.

The bmd.s can also be searched free at many LDS Family History Centres. You do not have to be a member, you can find the nearest one to you with this link.

  3. www.ansestry.com

  4. There's a company called findmypast that traces family trees.  I have a friend that works there, there is a good chance they could help you.  Look it up on the web and give them a call.  Good luck!
