Help with secret garden?

Question

i need to write an 4000 word essay on the secret garden but i don't know what to write about im thinking something about magic but i dont knwo if itll get me to 4000 words

2500 words are due next fridaay!!!

Well, you could write about the wonderful effect that the garden and growing things has on the children in the book.  Mary is sickly and cross when she first comes to Misslethwaite, but she recovers her health and spirits wonderfully in the garden, and then Colin, who is a fretful, sickly invalid, grows in health and vigour once he is exposed to the healthy outdoors.

As the garden is transformed into something like its old state, Mary and Colin are transformed with it.  Helping things to grow helps them to grow too.

You might be able to make an interesting essay out of something like that, 'the magic' as Colin refers to it, the magic of life.

I am not sure what class you are in--jr. high, high school, college--but teachers love for you to describe and build on the symbolism in the book. The Secret Garden didn't really contain all that much magic, if we are talking about the same book, so that won't get you very far. But it became a place for the kids to hope their dreams would be accomplished, and to learn to look within themselves to find their own strength,

You could go a step further and write about how the characters are symbols as well.  That may be a little too deep.
