Help with setting up my home phone?

I have a Uniden DSS7960+1 and i am having trouble finding how to divert calls to a different number, and also setting up the answering machine. I have read the owners manual several times and cannot find any information. Does any one know how to set them up?

Call divert/forwarding is a feature of your telephone company not the phone itself.

To set up the answering, remove the power adaptor. Insert it again. You should hear instructions from the phone. To activate answering just press the ANS ON/OFF button. The unit will announce "answerer on". Press and hold the OGM button to record announcement. There should be a switch to select number on rings before the phone will answer. It is located near the line jack.

You're phone account may not be set up to divert phone calls.

You have to check this first.

If it is, then lift the receiver and dial * 72 - when you get a beep, enter 1 and the 10-digit # you want to forward the calls to (1-x*x-x*x-XXXX)...to end the call forwarding, lift the receiver and dial *73 this will bring the calls back to your number.
