the question my teacher gave us..

1. Do you see any danger in adopting the sociological perspective too intensely? Ex: if we say society is at work, all choices on how to live, what becomes a personal responsibility for our actions?

  1. . IF that's the exact wording your teacher used, get another teacher! That's UNclear.

For one thing, saying something is "too intensive" means, by definition, that's it's wrong.

    End of essay.

  2. No, jimbob is wrong. What I interpreted from the question is she's asking how you personally feel about people who tend to take the ideas being practiced in one's society to the extreme. Where do you see the possibility of it becoming dangerous? For example the Middle Eastern extremists who feel that suicide bombings are honorable in the name of Ala or the KKK killing someone based on the color of their skin, or the extermination of a group of people because of the beliefs in their religion as being a just thing in the eyes of god. Adopting the sociological perspective of a group is not wrong, if it’s what you feel then so be it. It only becomes a problem when people’s perspective of the ideology is taken to the extreme based on intense feelings. When we say "society is at work, all choices on how to live" this means that people base their ways of live on how that society they currently live in feels they should live it. Like here in the U.S. it's against our standards in society for anyone to sunbath nude on the beach. Where as in parts of Europe it’s acceptable. She wants what you feel are the personal responsibilities for person’s actions that may or may not chose to follow the guidelines set for the community based on it’s society’s views. For example, if a woman decides to sunbath topless, what is her personal responsibility for her actions (even though our society looks down upon it, and it's against the law based on how we as a people view it)?
