  1. dont breathe as much

  2. To go as fast as you can the whole time you have to be in good shape. So run long distance every once in a while. Also practice doing good old fashioned sprinting. Every track star at the start runs low to the ground.(kind of hard to explain) Also I have noticed that when I run on my toes I run faster. Also when you are running make sure that when you are pumping your arms they are going straight forward. So basically don't move your shoulders from side to side when you are pumping your arms. Sprinting is all about strong legs. So work on your leg strength. The day before the race don't work out to hard. Might I suggest walking around with ankle weights.

  3. I wouldn't take the advice of "swim your fastest all the way". Unless you're in tip top shape, 100m is still long enough to get to you.

    1. Do lots of repetitions between 100 and 200m. You need to get a feel for the distance, and you should go just beyond it to simulate race conditions.

    2. Do some 25m sprints, all out. You should go as fast as you can to get a feel for the end.

    3. Focus on three main parts: start, turn, finish. If you can get a quick start, solid entry, tight turns, and a strong finish, the actual stroke won't matter too much in a sprint.

    4. Do your training on lots of rest intervals, but when you do them, do them hard.

    5. If you really care, don't do anything hard the day before, and don't do any hard swimming for 3 days before. But that's getting real competitive...

    Hope that helps.

  4. One of the tricks that i have learned is to hold your fastest speed as long as possible.

It sounds silly, but once you hit your fastest speed, which is about at the half way mark, most runners already start to slow down. If you feel like you are going as fast as you can, try to stay at that speed for as long as you can, and you will see the other runners falling behind.

As far as for how to start. I would definitely use the starting blocks. and everyone has there owns preference on what works best for them. just practice until you know what feels best.

    Good luck!

  5. well one thing you shouldn't do is to train every day. you will get too tired. start with some slow distance swims, like a slow 800m and then take a 5 minute rest. go to a 400m and go a little faster. rest again. then you can try to sprint some 100m if you're up to it.

the main thing is to not go too hard too fast. (I mean in swimming)

  6. just do your ABSOLUTE BEST. go your fastest on the first 25m, then the next 25 slow down a little and sort of rest, then go your fastest on the third 25, and on the last lap the end is in sight so go your fastest again. go 110%.
