i have a gary fisher wahoo bicycle, and when i was greasing i got wd-40 in the pads and on the disc. The breaks then did not work, but after about 2 weeks they began to dry up. But also began to squeak. So i took apart both breaks, applied rubbing alchohal to the pads and disc on both tires, removing A LOT of grease and grime. When i got it back together, they seemed to work like new, but still they squeak when i uses them, and also when im riding i can here a humming come from the front break. What do i need to do??

  1. 1. Your wheel could be on wrong. If you have quick release undo them, then try to line the brake in the middle of the pads, then do up the quick release.

    2. The brake was squeezed when the wheel was off. Take out the wheel and put a flat headed s***w driver in the middle of the pads and pry them apart gently.

    3. The whole brake has moved over. There is two bolts, on opposite sides of the brakes (front and back) that are undone with an allen key. Undo them just a little then push the side of the brake to reposition it. Then tighten the bolts.

    4. The brake is shot. Bring it to your local bike shop to have an expert take a look at it.
