  1. Surf music hasn't died, it's alive and well.  Check out Jim Facey Productions.  He has a website and handles a number of the old surf bands.  I haven't looked in awhile, but if you do a search for d**k Dale,   you will find a lot on the history of his music. Also, take a look at the Northeast Surf Music Alliance website.  Many bands along the East Coast are members.  I had one serious surf band, Reverb Galaxy at my luau last weekend.  The big promoter on the East Coast now is a character named Unsteady Fredie.  In Southern California, the International Surf Museum in Huntington Beach holds surf band concerts at the Pier almost every weekend during the summer.

  2. It hasn't died.  There are some new bands still doing the music, so they'd be a little hurt to hear it.  To expand on your paper you might want to look at surf rock outside of the US, like the Bambi Molesters from Croatia (they are very good, listen to Sonic Bullets - 13 from the hip).  Maybe not as popular as years ago, but not at all dead.

  3. two words.... Beach Boys. they will never die. not in cali anyways :-)

  4. The surf music has been infiltrated by the natives.  Because

the movies were highly successful yet limited interest the

movie production moved to hi-lite more scenic work.  A

true musical environment the sea is full of sound and is the

leading meditational and soothing system of nature.  You

probably will have to select one island area to concentrate

Hawaii, Thailand, California, Italy, France, and Seychelles

are some of the recent  tour busy spots.
