Help with surfboard question??

hey i bought a 5`10 board from someone moving for very cheap price..question i have is that i am 5`11 170pds..i have surfed for 4 years and surf in nj, board i surf now is about 6'4 6'5, would like to know what problems i may have trying to ride this board or if it will even be possible thanks.

  1. it all depends on the waves. considering you are from new jersey you might have a problem. (it does not get that big that often) I am 6'2 165 lbs and when the waves are just about over head ill bust out my 5'11 board. if you are a competent surfer you should be fine as long as the waves have enough push


  2. You need a board that will float you well enough for you to take off. take it out and see if you can paddle well with it. If it's on a real skinny blank, you have your work cut out for you, but it's not impossible. If you are pretty good on your 6'4".

  3. Well i have a 6.0 and my dad rides a 6.3 and he can still ride my board, but he needs a lot of paddle power

  4. You might have trouble evening your body out at first. But after the first time it should get easier.

  5. Ok, I had this same problem with my 5'4, don't get the 5'10... It's a bad idea.  You get it and you are dissapointed and can't surf it.  It sinks and you don't get to train on tricks or anything.
