Help with tanf plez?

currently work but due 2 pregnancy im gonna be going on maternal leave my job will only pay me 60% of wat i make & only for 6wks. i only made about 150 a week after taxes so i was making nothing 2 begin with. i heard you cant have a job but im not sure. im not quitting just taking time off 4 awhile. also will they come after my father's child for child support. does any1 know if i am i eligible to receive tanf? im in illinois & ive already looked online at my states laws but it really isnt giving much info. people answer with experience in this matter plez.

  1. From what I recall........you have to have no income at all to qualify for TANF.  You also have to be actively looking for a job.  They will not give you TANF if you quit a job, just because you don't want to work.  If you receive ANY assistance from the state, including Medical Card & Link Card, the state will go after the dad for child support.  

    I would recommend you go to your local office and ask to speak with a caseworker.  The rules might be different because you're pregnant, but I doubt it.  The whole point of TANF is to p**s you off enough to go find a job.
