  1. I am a 1500m runner but i also do occasionally participate in the 200m so it is possible to be good at both.

The key in 1500m is to pace yourself. REMEMBER!! Dont go off too fast, regardless of whether the rest are sprinting the first bit and unless they are top class you will probably get back to them.

My advice is to watch Kelly Holmes on youtube; she doesn't go to the front for the first 2.75 laps, keeping in touch and then she digs in and takes the lead and wins with a sprint finish. As you are sprinter this is probably your best strategy because you could probably beat them in a sprint finish if you were able to keep in touch!

    Good Luck and have fun!!!

  2. For a 1500, I would suggest that you focus on your form.

Since it is a longer race, I wouldnt get your knees too far off the ground like you would in a sprint.

Breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Focus on beating your personal best and, if you're up to a challenge, win the race.

Here is my strategy to a 1500.

Start out at about 80%, just for about 50m.

This is so you can stick around with the leaders of the pack.

After that, start to slow down into what I call a "cruise". A cruise is when you are running slightly over your comfort point.

Cruise around the track for the first 2 laps.

In the beggining of the 3rd lap you will be trying to slightly pull away from the rest, then cruise for the rest of the lap.

The final lap basically goes like this:

First 150m: Start pulling away even more

Next 50m: Slowly start to pick it up

Next 100m: Maintain your pace and get ready for the FASTEST endsprint of your life!

Final Straightaway: This is the moment you have been waiting for, 100m to victory! RUN LIKE YOU JUST ROBBED A STORE AND THE POLICE ARE BEHIND YOU BACK!

It may be a close race so at the end be sure to bow your head down like you would in a sprint!

For your 200m get of the blocks and start going about 80-85% (taking long strides to conserve energy) and in the final straightaway give it everything you got!

    Hope it helps!

  3. first off, are you sure you're doing a 15 and not a 16. and secondly, practice running in strides and then sprint the last like few hundred meters or so as fast as you can.
