Help with the av (red white yellow) i pod to tv?

i just bought that stupidd av cable with the head phone jack at radio shack for 25 dollars and i tried hooking it up to my tv through my ipod touch but its not working!

something i need to do to settings, my tv

i did the whole switching the red and yellow thing and still doesnt work

  1. On your iPod, click on "Video," then on "Video Settings," and make sure that "TV Out" is set to "On."  

    Yellow is always video, BTW.


  2. It depends on what generation your iPod is.  

    If it is one of the newer ones, that cable will not work.  You will have to go and exchange it for an actual apple made product.  The newer ones require you to use a cable that plugs into the USB part of your iPod and the other end can be composite (red, yellow, white) or component (blue, green, red).  These cost about $49.99 at radioshack.

    If it is an older one, just go into your video settings and switch it to TV OUT

  3. TV's do not automatically sense the RCa connections (red/white/yello) so you have to use the TV remote and change the input to AV or Vid one or Vid 2. or Line one etc.

    Color coding is a standard in the industry and n good quality cables the yellow (video) is usually better shielded.
