Help with the capital of Venezuela?

i know its caracas but i was wondering if the second A has an accent because me teacher put one on it, however my book doesn't have it? i have a test tomorrow and so now i dont know.

  1. It's Caracas, no accent on the a, but with a capital C.

No, it does not.  The rule is Spanish is the the second to the last syllable in a word is spoken with the emphasis  on it...and if a different syllable is spoken with the emphasis, which happens occasionally, then the ascent mark is used on it so readers will know.  The name "Caracas" is spoken with emphasis on the second to the last syllable..the "normal" way, so does not need an accent mark.  See site below and see how it is written in an article written in Spanish.  

  3. It's "Caracas" just like in your book. Your teacher s***w up thinking that, because the second "a" alter the pronunciation of the word it should be mark with diacritic but there are rules that dictates when a letter should be with an accent or not and this one is not the case.

  4. in all countries that speak spanish has differents acent (no in Bogota Col.) but in the others sites has differents forms to pronouncing words, words that only say in that part of the country
