I need to come up with some fun activities for children using gross motor skills. Do any of you know any games or activities that could be played to help children with kicking, stair climbing, skipping, hopping, or balancing?

THank you!

  1. twister, jump rope, dodge ball, kick ball

  2. See www.kubit2me.com and look at the Lil Scholars edition. It is a really fun learning game the uses motor skills as well as mental thinking. It is really a great game that kids love to play and actually learn at the same time. Great for motor skills as well.

  3. i got a great math game!!! depending on where they are addition, subtration, multiplication etc, get a plain white shower curtain and a big black marker, draw out squares for the numbers and math symbols ( it will sort of look like a big tic tac toe board), the facts are called out and the selected student hops on the numbers (ie addends) and the answers ( ie sum)  as long they answer right they keep hopping, the students will love it!!! Good Luck

p.s you can get shower curtains from the dollar store!

  4. What about "if your happy and you know it " , "simple Simon Says"   etc

  5. Design an obstacle course using all the equipment and have mats in between so they have to stand still on one leg for the count of 5 or as long as they can.

  6. Throw a piece of candy on the ground and they'll learn kicking and punching pretty quick.

  7. give them rewards like extra credit points, or if there is a rule that you can't do it, then buy a big cheap bag of candy, then throw out pieces to good students. that will keep them kicking and hopping pretty quickly.

  8. Any kind of simple game would work, like Simon Says, Tic tac toe with a bean bag, pretending they are animals and having to crawl like the animal, etc...

  9. Do an obsticle course. Climb over a step stool, jump rope 3 times, walk along a streight line, throw a ball in a kiddie pool....
