Help with the obsessing part of O.C.D.......?

Hello. I've had o.c.d. for quite awhile. It mostly pertains to when I leave my apartment and I want to know for a fact that both of my kitties are in the apartment and the door is locked. I have set it up where I give my kitties their treats in a place where I can see them as I shut the door but last night at work it got so bad where I was replaying the moments of leaving my apartment over and over again for literally the 11 hours I was at work. I knew my kitties were in the apartment but I just kept worrying that maybe I was wrong. This happens often, it's gotta stop. It makes living in the now nearly impossible with my mind going all the time. Any advice to help stop these obsessive thoughts? Serious answers only please! Thanks!

  1. My friend does behavior therapy for that.  He sees a therapist to help him with that.


  2. well you should realize that your kitties are gonna be safe no matter what!  If you locked the door or not.  You just really have to fight thru the ocd thoughts. Or else they will get bigger and you will get crippled.  The more you fight them saying stop they are gonna be fine. The less obsessive you will get if you give into it then it will just get more obsessive.  Good luck.

  3. Okay. I think I know what you're talking about. I do that too. As in, I leave and lock the door; but I wonder if I did, then I go back to check it, and waste my time. So, to solve htis problem, make sure that before you leave for work, you check on yoiur cats, make sure they have what they need for the time-being that you won't be available. Then, when you think about them at work, just start thinking about something else, like your to-do list, what goals you need to accomplish at work, your lunch/ break/ dinner (depending on when you work), just anything random, or start talking to someone about weekend plans, the Olympics, anything. Getting your mind off your cats will help, just change the topic. If that still doesn't help, call your house and say hi to your cats through the answering machine

    (weird, but it could help), ask them if they're okay, and say you'll be back soon.

    Who are we?

    We are the accumulation of our own past, including inherent genetic inheritance, the result of upbringing in the family, the outcome of education, and the experience in living over lifetime. Through a careful examination on this question, we should be able to easily assess and realize what are the quality and quantity of our spiritual and physical value, ability, and capacity in managing all the required events of daily life and living. The possession of the acquired spiritual and physical value, ability, and capacity enables us to interact with our internal and external environments and to detect what it can be good or bad for us, that is, the sense of need.  From there, an action takes place to bring in something spiritually and physically to satisfy our momentary and situational need under a circumstance. The variation in the difference of our past clearly reflects in the observation of the difference in individual behavioral patterns in response to a reality circumstance at different time and location.

    Who or what is someone or something that we are unhappy with?

    Unhappiness results from a failure in effectively and successfully managing daily events of life and living.  The affairs occurring in family, marriage, friendship, society, nation, and the world may reward or hurt someone's feelings through the process of bringing in the success or failure in managing life. All these occurrences comprise the contents of our life.  In fact, the need and activities for fulfilling the matters of food and s*x life display the beauty and ugliness of life at personal and social levels everywhere in the world.  To address the issue of with what or whom you are not happy, first, we have to look into some details of facts and truth of life as discussed in the following chapter 3 – What is Life?

    What is the real face or nature of someone or something that made or has made us unhappy?

    The contents of life and living in family, marriage, church, association, organization, institution, government, and the world are always parts of individual life. Therefore, it is essential to know what are the origin, function, and goal of a relationship; each of them is unique.  Despite its individual uniqueness, the origin, function, and goal of a relationship remains very the same, that is, to meet the need for an entity to survive, grow, and continue, if any possible, indefinitely. To review the items as listed in the following chapter, you should be able to capture a bird eye’s view of the origin, function, and goal of a relationship.
