Friday I'm going to circuit city to get my new hdtv and surround sound and a ps3. The tv is a Sony 40" KDL40V2500 and the home theatre is Sony HT-DDW995. Will I get 5.1 surround sound from the ps3 while playing games watching blu ray if I run a hdmi cable from the ps3 to the home theatre then from the home theatre to the tv or do I need to run digital optical from the ps3 to home theatre for 5.1. Also how do i get the satelite to be in 5.1 surround from a regular reciever standard defintion. If i plug my mp3 player will it be in 5.1 its a

Sony 4GB A810. Is there anyway I can hook up my laptop throught hdmi to the tv its a Acer Aspire 4270-4825. I anyone can tell me how to run the stuff that will help alot i know how to hook up most of it. THANKS

  1. If  you run the HDMI cable to the home theater audio receiver, that will give you DD 5.1 from that receiver without any additional connections to your PS3.

Your satellite receiver must have a digital audio output (coax or optical) for you to get satellite DD 5.1.  If it does, connect that to a digital audio input to your home theater receiver.

You can hook up your laptop to the TV if your laptop has a DVI output.  Get a DVI to HDMI adapter.  Audio must be handled separately, usually through red/white stereo from your PC to the AV receiver.

Your TV may have a 15-pin SVGA monitor input for connection to a computer.   The TV could then be used as your normal computer monitor.
