  1. Do you mean that each letter stands for a different digit?

    ADD

    ADD

    -------

    SUM

    D would have to be at least 5 because otherwise U and M would be equal.

    A has to be less than 5 because otherwise you'ld get a 4 digit number.

    I would just try all the combinations with A =1,2,3,4 and D -5,6,7,8,9;

    155+155=310 (no)

    166+166=332 (no)

    177+177=354 (yes)

    188+188=376 (yes)

    199+199=398 (no)

    If you continue like that you get  9 possibilities (177, 188, 255, 266, 288, 355, 455, 466, and 488 all work.)

  2. infinite, you havent mentioned which are the possible numbers

  3. The amount of possibilities is 1. Add+Add=Sum, e.g. 1+1=2. There is no other means of interpretation for it. Unless of course you mean that the sum is continually added, then that being the case, it goes on forever.

  4. there is no certain number the possibilities are endless, no kidding it goes om foreva!

    1+1=2

    1+2=3

    and so on, with all the numbers in the world this quite easily goes on forever.
