How many different possibilities are there?

Do you mean that each letter stands for a different digit?

D would have to be at least 5 because otherwise U and M would be equal.

A has to be less than 5 because otherwise you'ld get a 4 digit number.

I would just try all the combinations with A =1,2,3,4 and D -5,6,7,8,9;

155+155=310 (no)

166+166=332 (no)

177+177=354 (yes)

188+188=376 (yes)

199+199=398 (no)

If you continue like that you get  9 possibilities (177, 188, 255, 266, 288, 355, 455, 466, and 488 all work.)

The amount of possibilities is 1. Add+Add=Sum, e.g. 1+1=2. There is no other means of interpretation for it. Unless of course you mean that the sum is continually added, then that being the case, it goes on forever.

1+1=2

1+2=3

and so on, with all the numbers in the world this quite easily goes on forever.
