Help with transition words?

Although the medieval population flourished in the time of great cultural discovery, the people of this time period caused great political and national distress with their disruptive personalities. The major characteristics of the medieval mind were sinful, religious and political, and barbaric.

Thats my thesis statement but the last sentence, starting with 'The major characteristics...' needs a good transition word before it. It sounds dead just having the sentence. Anyone know any good words?

  1. Here are suggested changes:

Although the medieval population flourished in a time of great cultural discovery, the distruptive nature of the population caused great political and national distress.  The major characteristics of medieval thought were sin, religiosity, politics and barbarism.

Now the transition is made naturally and you don't need a special transition word.

  2. The problem you've got is that personalities don't equate to mind. You've changed subject. You need to either talk about their personalities or about their mental condition. Don't try mixing the two.

  3. Four major charactreristics were sinful.....what ?..... thought?

Four major characteristics of medieval minds were sinful thought, religious and political beliefs, and barbarism

barbaric is not a characteristic it's a description.

    Hope this helps
